A Daydream of Elsewhere explores the experience of rêverie as an active, embodied state. The composition feels architectural yet fluid, built from pale structural planes that both enclose and open. Within this contained space, darker passages recede, suggesting depth that extends beyond what is immediately visible.

Linear elements move across the surface like quiet trajectories of thought, introducing subtle direction without fixing the space in place. The result is neither landscape nor map, but a psychological interior where attention softens and imagination expands.

Here, immensity is discovered within enclosure. The painting proposes that elsewhere is not a distant location but a condition of mind, accessed through stillness and sensory awareness. It invites the viewer into a suspended moment where structure loosens, perception deepens, and the ordinary space around us becomes quietly infinite.

This painting has been created on a wooden cradle board. It is a mixed media piece comprising of Acrylic Paint, Graphite, Oil Pastel, Ink, Coloured Pencil and Collage (including a mix of vintage paper and paper hand made by the artist). The painting is 31cm by 31cm, has been sealed with three layers of satin varnish to protect the work and comes ready to hang.

'A Daydream of Elsewhere' has over 14 layers of paint and collage contained within it. Building it up layer by layer creates depth, texture and history. The lumps and bumps on the surface make it almost tactile and the interplay of shape next to line, collage next to paint and colour next to monocrome creates interest and drama within the piece.
