In a world increasingly defined by uncertainty and turmoil, my work explores the balance between acknowledging the chaos and finding hope. "Forget The Grey Day And The Rain" is an invitation to sit with discomfort, to embrace the moments of stillness and sadness, without rushing to turn away from them. It speaks to the messiness of life—the climate crisis, political instability, and the fear that permeates our everyday experiences. Yet, amidst this storm, there is a strength in holding onto something, however small, that reminds us of what’s worth fighting for.

This piece is not about idealizing perfection or pretending that everything is okay. Rather, it’s a meditation on the importance of resilience—the belief that even in our darkest hours, there is a glimmer of light. It's about learning to breathe through the grey days, knowing that the rain will eventually pass. My work aims to create a space for hope to flourish, where we can find comfort in the unknown and courage in the belief that better days lie ahead.

It is a testament to our collective ability to bear today, even when we don’t have all the answers, because we trust that tomorrow can hold something better.

'The Memory Of Light' has over 30 layers of paint and collage contained within it. Building it up layer by layer creates depth, texture and history. The lumps and bumps on the surface make it almost tactile and the interplay of shape next to line, collage next to paint and colour next to monocrome creates interest and drama within the piece.creates interest and drama within the piece.
