Words, through meaning, organise our thoughts during conversation and enable understanding. What would happen if we turned the expected upside down and invited others to take a seat? Would they find the feelings, thoughts and treasures that can’t be found in words?
This painting has been created on a framed wooden cradle board. It is a mixed media piece comprising of Acrylic Paint, Graphite, Oil Pastel, Ink, Coloured Pencil and Collage (including a mix of vintage paper and paper hand made by the artist). The painting is 31cm by 31cm, has been sealed with three layers of satin varnish to protect the work and comes ready to hang.
'Have A Seat' has over 10 layers of paint and collage contained within it. Building it up layer by layer creates depth, texture and history. The lumps and bumps on the surface make it almost tactile and the interplay of shape next to line, collage next to paint and colour next to monocrome creates interest and drama within the piece.
