Boredom is a condition characterised by our perception of our environment as dull and lacking in stimulation. It’s really a defence against a situation in which there is nothing for us to connect with and so our thoughts drift. This work aims to capture the mechanics of that process.
This painting has been created on a framed wooden cradle board. It is a mixed media piece comprising of Acrylic Paint, Graphite, Oil Pastel, Ink, Coloured Pencil and Collage (including a mix of vintage paper and paper hand made by the artist). The painting is 31cm by 41cm, has been sealed with three layers of satin varnish to protect the work and comes ready to hang.
'Thoughts Lost In Another Conversation' has over 14 layers of paint and collage contained within it. Building it up layer by layer creates depth, texture and history. The lumps and bumps on the surface make it almost tactile and the interplay of shape next to line, collage next to paint and colour next to monocrome creates interest and drama within the piece.
Thoughts Lost In Another Conversation
This painting is framed and ready to hang. (You just have to decide where it's going to live!). It has been finished with a sealing coat of acrylic medium and then varnished with two layers of Satin Polymer Varnish with UVLS (Ultra-Violet Light Stabiliser) for protection. Use a dry, lint free, cloth for dusting.
