So how do I create my own resiDENcy?
1. Choose which room you are going to use and clear a space.
2. Gather building supplies. Your DEN can be as simple as two chairs and a bedsheet or you can overcomplicate it, like I did, and build something out of wooden pallets and donated wardrobe doors! It’s your DEN so you can build it out of whatever you like!
4. Build your DEN. (Honestly, you can decorate the inside of a box and stick it over your head if you want to! There are no rights or wrongs here! What your DEN looks like doesn't matter - it's the space within it that is important)
5. Create. Why should I take part?
1. You get to create your own artist resiDENcy from the comfort of your own home.
2. There are no costs involved and you don’t have the upheaval of trying to re-arrange family life to make it possible for you to take part.
3. You will have support from an online community, who are all in the process of creating their own resiDENcy, so you don’t have to ‘go it alone’.
4. You get to experiment with what you can create when in a different environment.
5. You can take any learning gained and apply it to your usual processes. (It may even lead to a creative breakthrough or suggest a new direction for your work).
6. You will get a certificate of completion at the end of it all and you can add the resiDENcy to your CV.
7. You get to build a DEN and let’s face it…who doesn’t want to do that? Lol.
