The thought that started it all...

It all started with one thought.

If intelligence is simply the capacity to perceive, adapt, and weave connections...

then nature is the original AI...

self-organising, recursive, generative beyond comprehension.

When you think about nature and AI in those terms...

the “merging” of both isn’t a collision of opposites...but a recognition of kinship.

And that was it!

The seed of The Rooted Age.

A vision of what might grow...

when the boundary between organic and artificial softens.

I’ll be honest, this thought was quite a shift for me.

Until that point I’d found the rise of AI a bit unnerving.

But what if it’s not about domination…

but connection?

Thinking about it in those terms changed something for me, and I started to wonder...

in what kind of world could that idea flourish?

That question stayed with me…

and slowly, the lore of The Rooted Age began to take shape.

(But that’s a story for the next post).

In the meantime, I’m curious...

How do you feel about the idea of nature and AI merging?

Does it unsettle you, or does it spark your curiosity?

Drop me a line and let me know :-)
