Well...this wasn't the plan

So, apparently I've been saying the same thing for years and have only just noticed.

(Worryingly, the paintings seem to have known this for ages, which is just bloody ridiculous).

Once I'd noticed it, I couldn't leave it alone and, in what will surprise absolutely nobody except me, things got a bit out of hand.

The funny thing is that I thought I was working on my social media.

Turns out I wasn't.

The plan was simple enough. I wanted to get better at writing emails, social media posts, artist statements and all the other things artists are apparently supposed to be good at.

So I started working on something called a Voice Compass.

(Oooh, get me with my arty speak!)

Basically, it's just a guide to help me sound more like me.

Simple.

Except it wasn't.

Because somewhere along the way I started looking back through old paintings, old notes, old ideas and asking myself what connected them all.

It's been one of the most unexpected and useful rabbit holes I've disappeared down in a very long time.

I'll tell you more about it next time.

For now, I just wanted to pop my head above the parapet and say hello.

I'm still here.

I've just been busy arguing with my own paintings.

Speak Soon,

Carol
